Pre-strawman database implementations for BioCorder
These databases were developed before BioCorder was conceived and form a test bed for some of the concepts we intended to implement within BioCorder.

| A prototype replacement for hand-written lab notebooks, this module tracks the molecular products of specimens from DNA extraction and PCR replication, through to DNA sequences and their eventual Genbank accession. This module also stores PCR primers, PCR thermal cycling protocols, daily PCR events that can be printed and pasted into a lab notebook, gel electrophoresis images, etc. |

| A web-based reference manager development by Rod Page. This module allows users to upload and manage their reference lists as a web-based database and offers all the import, searching, and export facilities offered by many third party bibliographic applications. An Endnote®-style web interface makes the database intuitive to most users. Administrators can bulk import references from Endnote®, Reference Manager® or PubMed (2004) at the click of a button. | Specimen Image Database (SID) |

| Developed by Simon Rycroft and Vince Smith , SID is a relational database of high-resolution images for phylogenetic and biodiversity research. Images are accompanied by fully searchable annotation, and can be browsed, searched or downloaded*. Registered users can also add, annotate or label images. The database is intended as a reference collection of named specimens and a resource for comparative morphological research. Taxon taxonomy is served and validated independently by the Glasgow Taxonomy Name Server. |
